Honors, awards, and fellowships
 

1.      2001: Quality Performance Award. Establishing and maintaining DNA Microarray facility at the FDA/CFSAN, and training FDA personnel on using the DNA Microarray facility.

2.      2002: Distinguished Fellow Lecturer Award.  Rapid Methods and Automation in Microbiology XXII. Kansas State University.

3.      2003: Problem Solving/Creativity Award for outstanding development of an innovative and creative method that integrates Microarray technology with infrared spectroscopy to rapidly identify pathogenic bacteria with high-throughput, FDA.

4.      2004: Performance Award for continued excellence in Microarray development, incorporation of new technologies into Microarray analysis, and adaptation of novel approaches of labeling DNA for hybridization, FDA.

5.      2005: Center/ORA Scientific Achievement Award (CDRH-CBER-CFSAN Microbial Diagnostic Microarray Group) for harnessing cutting-edge DNA Microarray technology to improve the safety of food, medical devices, and biologics, FDA.

6.      2005: Selection for Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition Award of Excellence. For sustained productivity in the development of a new Microarray technology to support FDA/CFSAN’s safety goals.

7.      2007: The membership board of the American Society for Microbiology recognizing outstanding service as branch president of the Washington, DC Branch.

8.      2007: Performance Award for lending vital microbiological expertise to the Office of Compliance during CFSAN sponsored inspections of farm/industry sites, FDA.

9.      2009: Performance Award for outstanding service collaborating with public health authorities throughout the U.S. and Mexico to identify the source of Salmonella Saintpaul contamination and prevent further illness, FDA.

10.  2009: Group Recognition Award for superior achievement in FDA’s Emergency Operations Center’s coordination of the agency’s Salmonella Saintpaul outbreak activities, FDA.
